FAQ
What is a MOT?
A MOT is an annual test of vehicles to ensure their road safety/road worthiness and emissions required within the UK.
All vehicles over 3 years old that are to be used on the road are required by the DVLA to have a valid MOT.
Why do I need a MOT?
The DVLA requires users to have a MOT to ensure that your car is operating correctly and is safe for both you and other people on the road.
How long does a MOT last?
New cars do not need a MOT until the third year of being on the road.
All vehicles over the age of 3 must have a MOT yearly.
How to check my MOT
If you are unsure whether your Vehicle has its MOT, or when it runs out, you can check online or give us a ring on 01482 329 329 and we can conduct a MOT check within minutes.
What to do if I have no MOT
If your vehicles MOT has run out, legally you can only use it to travel to a pre-booked test or to a garage where it is going for repairs.
If you are booking with us we can give you proof of your booking to provide to authorities if needed.
How do I get a MOT?
Most vehicle garages perform MOT tests, just give us or the garage of your choice a call and book a test and take your vehicle there.
Do I need to go to a specialist garage?
No, most vehicle garages will do MOTs, just give them a call beforehand to check.
How long does a MOT take?
We usually advise leaving your car for an hour and then returning or ringing us up to check on the progress however the time can depend on any repairs your vehicle may need and parts that may need to be sourced.
If you have concerns for specific parts you can organise bringing your vehicle in a few days before your test to help us ensure we have the correct parts before conducting your test.
Can I get a MOT today?
We cannot guarantee seeing to your car on the same day. But if you give us a call we can advise you when the next available time is that we can get your cars MOT booked in and completed.
If we have availability, we will of course do it the same day. Just give us a ring beforehand to check availability and we will get you booked in the best available slot.
